pre.school field trip

Jackobi got to go on her very {first} field trip with her little pre-school class!!  It was so fun and she was so super excited.  It was a really cold and windy day, but that didn't damper the spirits and enthusiasm of this little group.  They were so much fun.  I'm so glad I got to go with them!

Jackobi's teacher is amazing.  They went around the patch to each of the different things and learned about them, touched them, felt them and described what they felt and saw.  It truly is a talent to engage a dozen 4 year olds at a time and she can do it!

She's growing so tall and so grown up! My favorite part of the day was being able to sit back from a distance and watch Jackobi be herself.  Interact with her new friends, be silly and tell jokes to them. It melted my heart to see just how much my once extremely shy girl has grown.

Leighton's Debut

Our sweet Leighton Clare is our beautiful little miracle.  She joined our family on October 2nd at 7:32 in the evening weighing in at 8 pounds 7 ounces.  She is beautiful and perfect.  What an amazing little babe.  My delivery was different than with our other children.  Knowing Leighton has a heart defect the moment I delivered she was lifted up to give us a glimpse of her tiny little body then passed thru a special window in my delivery room to the ICU.  Nate was able to follow her to the ICU once she was stable then the air ambulance team loaded her up to transfer her to Primary Children's.  Before they headed over to Primary's - I was beyond happy they were able to wheel her into my room so I could get a real glimpse of my sweet baby girl.  Here she is, in all her glory - brand new and amazing.  We were instantly in love.

After only a day Leighton was moved out of the CICU she got to be in her own private room.  This gave us lots of privacy and time to get to know our little girl. The doctors and nurses were amazing at Primary Children's. We've already learned so much - about Leighton's heart, ourselves, our family.  Everything about this experience has already been life changing.  Our perspectives are altered and perhaps even our priorities adjusted.  We've always tried to savor every moment with our children, but even more so now.

Love this sweet, sweet man! I just have to say I don't know what I would have done without Nate by my side this week. He is such an incredible husband and the most amazing dad. He was (and still is) a constant support. We are one lucky family to have him leading the way!

It was a really long week, emotional week.  But after only 6 days Leighton was able to come home. That certainly was one very happy day.  We're loving having our little family home and all together.
