"Egg - xtra" Help!!

I have a hard time getting Jackobi to eat breakfast in the morning's unless she in some way helps prepare it. (pour the cereal, pop the toast down etc.) This morning, I was feeling brave, and didn't have anywhere to go for a few hours so decided to take on the challenge of scrambled eggs WITH a 2-year old's help. I was totally preparing myself for at LEAST an hour of cleanup after wards, but to my surprise, Jackobi is a pretty tidy helper!! She cracked the eggs [and even helped pick out the little piece of shell that escaped into the bowl], beat the eggs, and helped stir them in the pan & sprinkle cheese on top! She was very careful and absolutely DELIGHTED to be cooking herself a real breakfast!! She ate EVERY bite and kept telling me 'I did it' and 'Look Mom!' ... so proud! I only hope her desire to help cook and clean continues as she gets older!!

Beewr ...

The other day, I asked Jackobi what she would like to drink in her sippy cup

She responded "pop" -- so I asked her what kind of pop she'd like and I got this response:

"Beewr" (Beer) ... beew .. oot beewr

... I got a pretty good little laugh out of this. She must have been amused with my reaction because now she only asks for "beew" when she would like pop ... hopefully she doesn't shout it out too loud in any restaurants! We may have people wondering!

Sunshine is good for the Soul!!

Dear Mr. Sunshine,
We sure do love it when you come out to play!
Please come out again soon and maybe stay for a little while!

Love ~ Jackobi

Oh how I ♥ the sunshine!! Today was nearly 50 degree and we were able to have a fun little trip to the park.
Swings, slides and spinning in circles.

Sunshine is good for the soul!!

Jackobi's BIG GIRL BED!!!

After fighting it for several weeks, we FINALLY decided to make the crib-to-toddler bed switch!! Jackobi has absolutely HATED her crib for a little while, but ironically enough she bawled when we started to take it down. So, needless to say, she slept in our bed while we sneakily took the crib down! Now that she has her big girl bed, she LOVES it!!! She'll just go sit on it and read, for no apparent reason. Just because she likes her new bed and pillow! It's pretty funny! She really hammed it up for me when I wanted to take her picture ... look at that silly grin!! So proud of her new bed!

There was a little confusion at first .... ever since Jackobi was little my mom has taught her to "bouncy bounce" on the spare bed at her house. She loves to jump on that bed! So the FIRST thing Jackobi tried to do on her bed, was JUMP!!! So, Grandma had to come over and teach Jackobi that HER bed was to sleep on, and the one at Grandma's house was for Bouncy Bouncing ... I guess letting kids jump on the bed is just one of the joy's of being a Grandma!

We moved Jackobi's new kitchen into her room [much to her argument ... she thought it needed to permanently be located in the living room!!] but it looks pretty cute in her room all put together! I can't believe how quickly her little 'baby room' changed into a total big girl room!

Fun Stuff ....

We had held onto a few things Jackobi got for her birthday so she fun, 'new' things to play with in the weeks after her birthday. Here she is sporting her new helmet & knee pads from Uncle Jason .... she especially loves them because they're Snow White!

While I was convincing Jackobi to put on her helmet, I told her that it was to protect her head in case she fell or bonked her head on the wall. Now, she thinks it's pretty fantastic to bang her head into the wall since it's nice and 'protected!!' I guess it must feel funny or make a neat sound because she'll smack her head into the wall for quite a while!!

She also got a pretty neat little Play-Doh toy from Anna ... she LOVES it and it's actually pretty fun making different designs & shapes! (Although a bit messy ... just you wait Justin! Anna's birthday comes NEXT!!!)

The other day I was vacuuming & told Jackobi that we had to do some chores before we could go & play with her friends. I fully didn't expect her to help, but came into the hall and she 1/2 way up the stairs cleaning!! Such a good helper! Looks like she was hard at work!!

Thoughts

"God does notice us, and he watches over us. But it is usually through another person that he meets our needs. Therefore, it is vital that we serve each other . . . . So often, our acts of service consist of simple encouragement or of giving mundane help with mundane tasks, but what glorious consequences can flow from mundane acts and from small but deliberate deeds!"

-- Spencer W. Kimball

These last couple of weeks in particular, this quote has taken on a new meaning for me. I am becoming more and more aware of those who encourage, and those who do not. I am so thankful for all of the love and support our family and friends continually show to us. I have experienced my "needs" being met through other people, and I'm not even sure that they realized they were answering one of my prayers. Isn't God amazing? I am continually in awe ...

Ah, you must be GRUMPY!

Jackobi got the movie Snow White & the 7 Dwarfs for Christmas. Up until about a week ago, she wouldn't watch it, but has now decided she LOVES it!! [as long as we skip the scenes with the Witch in them! She's scary! And don't even get me started on that mirror!!] There's one scene in the movie, where the dwarfs find Snow White in their house and she's figuring out their names. Jackobi thinks it's really funny when she figures out who Grumpy is. Snow White says 'Ah, I see [crossing her arms] you must be GRUPMY!' teasing the little dwarf. Yesterday, Jackobi was in a questionable mood, so I crossed my arms and said 'Ah, I see, you must be GRUMPY!' She laughed and said 'naaaa' so I asked her who was Grumpy and she said rather enthusiastically, "DAD! Da's Bumpy!" Funny girl! She told us that several other times throughout the day that Dad was Grumpy too! Funny! I don't know why she thinks that, he's certainly nicer to her than I am!! I ♥ her funny little personality!!

Having a Ball!!

Jackobi has been pretty congested and had an ear week the last week or so, but FINALLY was back to her sweet self on Friday! She had so much energy and we could tell she was glad to be back to herself! We decided to get out her little Princess Playland for the first time & she LOVED it! It comes with little balls to play in and she thought it was just about the best thing ever! [especially since there are Princesses on it ... I've decided that for Jackobi, Princesses make EVERYTHING better and more fun!!]

Hopefully we'll have a few more hours of fun with this!
I'm glad to have my happy little girl back! It's no fun when they're sick!!

..buds...

Jackobi LOVES Kenzie! Thank goodness Kenz is a good sport and doesn't mind playing with the 'little kid' ... she even shares her nacho's! [well ... not the cheese! :) You know what I'm sayin' Ash!]

Jackobi's Favorite Things

Jackobi is growing up quite quickly. I had the rest of her 2 year pictures to post so I thought I'd mix in some of her favorites and funny stories! Bear with me! This is mostly so I can keep track of the little things since I'm not very good at writing them in her baby book!

Favorite Books: Elmo & Friends Look & Find Book ... this is the book we let her have on the potty. So now she will just go sit on the potty & read. Even if she doesn't have to go. Kinda like her daddy!! (haha)

Favorite Songs: Popcorn Popping & Wheels on the Bus

Favorite Activities: Coloring, puzzles, reading & helping me cook & clean. She's such a good little helper!!

Favorite Movie: She bounces between Beauty & the Beast (or Belle as she calls it), Daddy Day Care (Babies), A Goofy Movie and Marley & Me (puppy!) ... quite a variety! I promise she doesn't just watch TV all day long!

Favorite Cartoon: Sesame Street, Ni Hao Kai Lan, Wow Wow Wubzy ... pretty much anything on Nick Jr.

Favorite Foods: French Fries (fwies), rice (wice), chicken nuggets

Favorite Snack: Apple slices or carrot sticks (I'm hoping she continues to like these even after she learns they're healthy!!)

Color in the Color Box: She likes most PINK things, but she sticks to the first crayon she picks out of the box. A lot of times she chooses black, it must show up better or something.

Favorite Toy: She really loves her kitchen right now! That and her Magna-Doodle

Animal: KITTIES!! She has a little stuffed kitten named "Meow" ... she takes it just about everywhere! She has also decided it's pretty neat to have kitties on her clothes. Yep, she's decked out in 'Hello Kitty' attire some days.

Funny Things Jackobi Does:

♥ Jackobi is really going through a band-aid phase!! Every little bump NEEDS a band-aid. And when it falls off she bawls until we get another one. She fights baths for this reason!!!

♥ Over Christmas, my niece Anna snuck Baby Jesus out of one of my mom's Nativities. In the process, she accidentally broke his arm off. Jackobi is SO sensitive, she noticed EVERY time we went over, and was SO SAD for his little broken arm. Noticeably upset enough that we had to hurry and glue it back on!

♥ Jackobi has a few dolls that she likes to 'mother'. The other day she was talking to one of them and saying 'Hey Baby'. Nate and I had a good laugh at how cute she said it that now she walks around saying 'Hey Babee' it's SO CUTE, but I promise if Jason starts using her to pick up chicks it's not going to be good! :)

♥ My mom has a little Gund teddy bear at her house that Jackobi has taken claim to. She's gone through this diaper phase and decided her toys NEED to wear diapers. So, every single time we go to my moms, she rushes in to see if her bear has his diaper on (my mom takes it off each time we leave). So frantically, Jackobi rushes in to see her bear and cries 'OH NO' and hurries to put his diaper back on, as if he'll have an accident if she doesn't hurry!

♥ Lately, Jackobi has noticed that I call her dad 'Nate' instead of Dad. So when she REALLY wants his attention she yells for "Nete"!!

Looking back, I can't believe how quickly the past 2 years has gone! She's grown & changed so much!

Gonzaga Game!

Camille got tickets to the Gonzaga game this weekend, so Nate, Jason & Casey flew out to Spokane for the night. Tickets to watch the Bulldogs play in the "Kennel" are hard to come by, so I know Nate was pumped to get to go!

Outside The Kennel

Before the game, Gonzaga puts on a great show!!

Watching the game

Nate said it was such a good game & weekend! Thanks Camille!!

I had to include a little picture of Nate's "luggage" ... I'm pretty sure it was the hippest bag on the flight! :)

Our Valentine ...

We ♥ our little sweetheart!!
Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!!

Dinner Date!

Last week Bunco got canceled so a few of us decided to go out to dinner anyways!! We figured since we all planned on a night out and had arranged for the kiddo's to be taken care of we had better take full advantage!! Thanks Makyla, Jamie & Tiff for a fun night out!!

Another Loss ...

This was what Jackobi thought of the Duke v. North Carolina game.

Tough year to be a Tar Heel fan!
[well ... tougher on Nate than Jackobi!!]
I think she still looks pretty cute in her cheerleader outfit though! :)

Swim Buddies!

Jackobi's swimming buddies [minus Maybree]
Thanks for the picture Cortney!

Each week, a little group of us get together & take our kiddo's swimming. In the winter it's especially nice to do something a little more 'active' since we're cooped up inside! Jackobi has learned to really look forward to swim day and really missed it when we took a break for the holidays! This week we had a little birthday celebration for Jackobi complete with cupcakes and balloons!

When you're little, does it get much better!? Swimming & sugar? Nice combo! I love little kids and their frosting faces!

It's so nice to have a play date to look forward to each week!
I'm pretty sure it's just as necessary for us moms as it is our kids!! :)
