Leighton's Debut

Our sweet Leighton Clare is our beautiful little miracle.  She joined our family on October 2nd at 7:32 in the evening weighing in at 8 pounds 7 ounces.  She is beautiful and perfect.  What an amazing little babe.  My delivery was different than with our other children.  Knowing Leighton has a heart defect the moment I delivered she was lifted up to give us a glimpse of her tiny little body then passed thru a special window in my delivery room to the ICU.  Nate was able to follow her to the ICU once she was stable then the air ambulance team loaded her up to transfer her to Primary Children's.  Before they headed over to Primary's - I was beyond happy they were able to wheel her into my room so I could get a real glimpse of my sweet baby girl.  Here she is, in all her glory - brand new and amazing.  We were instantly in love.

After only a day Leighton was moved out of the CICU she got to be in her own private room.  This gave us lots of privacy and time to get to know our little girl. The doctors and nurses were amazing at Primary Children's. We've already learned so much - about Leighton's heart, ourselves, our family.  Everything about this experience has already been life changing.  Our perspectives are altered and perhaps even our priorities adjusted.  We've always tried to savor every moment with our children, but even more so now.

Love this sweet, sweet man! I just have to say I don't know what I would have done without Nate by my side this week. He is such an incredible husband and the most amazing dad. He was (and still is) a constant support. We are one lucky family to have him leading the way!

It was a really long week, emotional week.  But after only 6 days Leighton was able to come home. That certainly was one very happy day.  We're loving having our little family home and all together.

Jackobi's [first] day of pre.school ::

I can't believe my sweet Jackobi is growing up so fast! This year she started pre-school and has loved every  minute.  She goes twice a week for a couple of hours and is already learning so much! It's so fun to see her learn and grow.  She's been eagerly waiting for pre-school all summer - I'm glad it's lived up to her expectations.  I think she'll be a good little student, she loves when she has "homework" to do at home ... hopefully this lasts!

So far, her teacher has said what a sweet little student she is ... we'll see when Mrs. Andrea gets to see the true, wild little Jackobi :)

here's to a happy learning year for my little J
4 1/2 years has never gone so fast!!

:: insta - update ::

As much of a nuisance as cell phones can be -- I always seem to have mine right by me! One perk is that I get to capture some of our daily things that I wouldn't otherwise :) here's a quick update!

Over the 4th of July festivities, Nate's Grandma flooded her yard, bought some fun squirt guns and let all of the kiddos have a hay day.  You can tell Jackobi loved every second -- pure elation on her face :)  We have a pretty cool grandpa & some fun uncles who were good sports in playing along.  Love summertime festivities!

4th of July

I'm ages behind in my blogging - life has just been crazy. I have the beginning of fall festivities to blog and realized I haven't even started what little (where did my camera go this year!??) I have of summer to blog about! 4th of July has always been my favorite. Even when I was little. There's just something that Rupert does right about the 4th -- really right.  I love this magical little town & think my little kiddos are fans too!  My Grandma Bellem's house is just a block off the square and the absolute BEST seat in the house for the fireworks show .... we couldn't pass it up!

Kashton went through a "cheeser" phase this summer :: here he is hamming it up & excited for the fireworks. (he didn't know what he was in for yet, but they didn't dissapoint! He loved them!)

****
Despite the heat over the 4th this year we still ventured to the Rupert parade.  Jackobi loved every, single second.  She stood perched at the corner the entire time, waving to every person or float that went by.

Kashton on the other hand, was much happier in the shade armed with popsicles.

Jackobi's favorite part of the parade was seeing Timber hand out candy.  She loves cheerleaders and everything about them -- uh oh!!
