pumpkin patch!

It really isn't fall without a trip to the good ol' pumpkin patch! And it just so happens that this country town has the cream of the crop! I can remember coming to this VERY pumpkin patch with my family when I was a little girl and it's one of my favorite fall memories. We lucked into a Saturday with [perfect] fall weather and LOVED spending a good chunk of our afternoon picking pumpkins!

Last year Leighton was so little she didn't get to experience the glory of big orange pumpkins! She loved it this year!

Kashton was like a kid in a candy store! So much to look and and SO MUCH to do! It was nice to have an ENTIRE field for him to run like a little banshee thru.

Fall is my favorite. By far. So glad I get to make such fun memories with my family!!

a [little] Kashton update ::

Kashton Tate :: this little guy sure makes us [smile] He is firey with a ton of personality and very sure of what he wants and likes. He has always been quite the talker and is still very much so. He tells us just what he's thinking and has quite the conversations! He's gotten really into imaginative play and loves to play make believe. He loves trucks, motorbikles (aka:: motorcycles) and tractors and anything that makes a loud motor noise! He still really loves baseball and playing outside. Especially helping daddy shoot his bow or guns (he calls it "snapping" it.) His favorite color is red (most of the time) ... and loves to be my helper. He is all boy and generally really rough and tough, but in the same token is my sweet boy who gives lots of snuggles, hugs and kisses. Oh and he has a head full of curls that are to die for! He is our silly little comic relief most days full of mischief and energy. I really don't know what we'd do without him! He's growing up so fast!

{eighteen months}

Where does the time go!? I can hardly believe Kashton has already hit the 1 1/2 mark! He is such a fun and ENERGETIC little boy! From the moment he wakes up he hits the ground running and doesn't stop much until bedtime! (some days we don't even get a nap!) He loves to play and "explore" things -- most often things I don't want to be "explored" but that's the beauty of it, right? He adores being outside and I really think would stay out all day long if I'd let him. He loves to play with the lawn mower, race around the trampoline, smack his little ball off his baseball tee and ride Jackobi's pink tricycle. (apparently we need to invest in a boy bike for him!!) Where ever Jackobi goes, Kashton is quick to follow. He loves his big sis and mimics most things she does. (including some pretty darling ballerina moves :)) They play so well together -- my favorite thing is to sit and listen to them giggle uncontrollably together.

The only time we can seem to get Kashton to sit still is to eat or read a book. He loves books -- especially those including animals. He is an animal lover for sure and is quick to make any sound he can associate with a creature. He has quite the little vocabulary and if he's not sure -- will attempt to repeat anything we say. His list of words go on and on -- a few of his favorites are tractor, baseball, bat, cobi (Jackobi), puppy, hi, bye, mommy, no no, bath, juice, milk, side (outside), pease (please) and is getting really good at "sorry" -- which has been added to his vocabulary very quickly as he has learned to hit, pull hair and torment his big sis. They really are darling together, but he's learned how to play "rough" -- that's for sure.

he is such a social little boy and pretty friendly to everyone. He smiles so much and "flirts" a bit with new people. He loves to give high-fives, slide & pops and has learned how to show you his muscles :) He has some of the most darling little facial expressions -- you can usually tell what's on his little mind just by looking at his face. He loves the water and usually insists on being in control of the hose (watch out!) he loves to chase and WILL douse you with the hose. (especially if you scream -- that makes him try even harder :))

Kashton brings us so much joy and LAUGHTER! He is constantly making us smile and lightening the mood. He is definitely my sweet little boy -- I can't wait to see what the future holds for our little man! We love you Kashton!! ♥

:: hogle zoo ::

During one of our trips to SLC we decided to make a fun day out of things and visit the Hogle Zoo -- it was such a fun, but HOT day! I'm pretty sure we went on one of the hottest days this summer -- we were pushing high 90's -- but the kids were troopers and Jackobi is still talking about it! Her favorite animals were the elephants (she loved the baby elephant pictured above) and the giraffes. Kashton liked everything and is a champ at making some pretty comical animal sounds to go along with everything.

Kashton's little cheeks are pretty rosy from the heat, but he was all smiles! I think his favorite animals were the seals. Probably just because they would swim right by the glass so he could get a good look. Jackobi liked them too, but inside the seal exhibit were the big sea lions. I think they were a little too big and too close. They made her pretty nervous.

and just when the heat had gotten to little miss Jackobi ... we rounded the corner to the carousel.

instant mood changer .... she had been asking for it and the train all day.
wish come true. and just in time.

Kashton was a fan as well. He kept bouncing saying "giddy-up, giddy-up!"

Grandpa teaching Jackobi about the finer things in life :: how to keep cool in the "mist fans" :: I'm pretty sure we all visited them a time or two before the day was over.

we ended things off with a ride on the train. it was such a fun day at the zoo. Jackobi and Kashton are both at such fun, inquisitive ages. They're always up for a little adventure - I need to remember to be more like them and savor the little "adventures" in life.

Easter!!

We had a week full of Easter festivities!! To start the week off, we had a little Easter Egg hunt out at the dam with our playgroup :: it was so fun!! The day turned out to be beautiful & the kids had so much fun!! We decided not to invite the Easter bunny this year since we had so many terrified children last year (last year's funny pictures are here though :)

Jackobi really embraced the Easter Egg hunt this year.

Holidays with children are just more magical.

Kashton, on the other hand .... wasn't very impressed....

... until he realized there was candy in those eggs

then he quickly became a fan ...

A little later that week a few of us got together to dye Easter Eggs! It's so fun to do things like this as our kids get older. It's fun to watch them play and entertain one another. We're so grateful for such fun, good friends!

"What jelly beans, mom?" ... this picture had me cracking up! Kashton looks so guilty with his mouthful of Jelly beans!

we tried to get the little brother's to let us take their picture ....

they were far more interested in the jelly bean & rice crispy treats!

It's fun to have this little trio of boys so close together!

Kashton is my official stubborn picture taker .. (sigh)

one day I'll have him trained! .... [maybe!]

Easter Sunday was fun to get all dressed up!

Kashton is still not sure why I make him

sit still for pictures, but is getting a little better ...

Since Kashton learned about what's inside the eggs, he's a bigger fan. It's about all we could do to get him to avoid opening eggs until after the egg hunt ... little man loves himself some chocolate!!
